Back again with a different mission

So I have completed the training in Washington, DC, met my amazing ThinkImpact colleagues, developed incredible relationships and now arrived in Ghana.  And I have only been with the company for a week.  So crazy!

I cannot begin to tell you all how I am feeling right now.  Each time I came to Ghana before I was not only committed to being part of a great community in Patriensa, but was investing in my own education and potential for my future career.  The past two years were filled with financial, emotional, and lifestyle sacrifices as I lived abroad.  This trip marks the first opportunity to emerge from student to professional in the field.

The training in DC invigorated me.  It is almost too difficult to describe what it is like to be in a room filled with individuals with palpable passion for connecting with people around the world.  This experience marks a new perspective to global development not grounded in the traditional models of dependency and endless aid.  We are here to build community with people, walk with them through their daily lives, and have conversations about where they see assets and how those local resources can be used to address the needs they also see around them.

I am so lucky to have the advisers Tim and Alicia on my team for Ghana.  They are strong, steady, wise, and committed to this process.  We have spent many hours talking about our excitement for the scholars to arrive.  And the scholars...their profiles give us a glance into the amazing characters headed over to be with us for two months.  We will learn so much from them!

I am still trying to process all of this and realize that I am back in Ghana.  It all started with such a fated meeting between myself and a ThinkImpact staffer on the shores of Lake Bosumtwi in March and has ended with me being part of a family of unique and dedicated game changers.  I am blessed beyond belief.

I promise to bring you along this time more consistently.  In my brief time in Austin recently I realized just how many supporters I have out there.  I feel your positive energy and loving thoughts each day.  It is selfish of me not to share all of the wonders and worries that detail my life.  I would love to also have your feedback and input on my blog.  Let's converse!  You know I am a talker :)

This is Ghana-be an intense summer!
Love and Hugs,  Kwame, TimB, Tim, Tripp, TimmE, Timmy, WT, or however you know me!
